Description: Rose Springs Sloping Shoulders Stemmed Point 1-7/16 inch long X 17/32 inch width. Made of translucent obsidian with slightly darker area when held up to a light source. Fine horizontal parallel flaking with sharp point, rounded, barbless shoulders and an expanding stem. Point has a thin lenticular shaped when viewed in cross section. Great example of this point type. This point obtained from a collector in Eastern Oregon Near Lake CO., Oregon. A924-226 Rose Springs Sloping Shoulder Points are found in the northern portions of the Great Basin States. Central to Northern Nevada, Southern Idaho, Southeastern Oregon and North Central California. Dating to 1,600 - 600 years BP. Developmental to Classic Phase. Described as a well made arrow sized point with a barbless triangular blade. Rounded shoulders transitioning into a straight, slightly expanding stem. A few examples may have a rare contracting stem and over 90% have well grounded stems. Typically the blades are thin and lenticular in cross section. Ships in a padded cardboard box.
