Description: Oil Catch Can Check Valve PCV Boost Pressure Vacuum Leak Gas Oil Turbo LS GDI Note: This listing is for 1 boost check valve only, not the oil catch can or any other parts. Seal boost leaks, find lost horsepower, and extend engine life by preventing caked valves and pre-ignition. This check valve lets you take control of oil vapors by installing in-line with your PCV valve. Unlike a regular check valve that will break down and disintegrate over a short time with exposure to oil, this is engineered to operate in automotive applications with high temperatures, gasoline, and oil. Designed with a very low opening point (cracking pressure) of only 0.5 psi, it works immediately and provides 100% sealing up to 150 psi. Because of its low cracking pressure and excellent compatibility, this is an excellent choice for applications ranging from a stock passenger car PCV line all the way to custom oil catch can setups on racecars. This even works great on its own for simple PCV control, especially for GDI engines.Proudly Made in the USA, and actively tested on the streets and racetrack.3/8" (10mm) barbed fittingsOil and Gasoline compatible0.5 psi starting point (cracking pressure)100% sealing from 1 to 150 PSIWorks with vacuum between 2" and 29" Hg440°F (227°C) working temperatureThe Problem: The PCV system is necessary to evacuate crankcase oil vapors and pressure under normal driving conditions, but under boosted conditions, crankcase evacuation is absolutely essential for proper engine operation due to increased blow by. PCV valves can leak backwards under boosted conditions which allows unwanted boost to enter the crank case. Aside from the PCV valve not operating as intended, the consequences can be messy oil leaks from blown out oil seals and gaskets, and a loss of horsepower due to boost leaking from the intake system. Tips on custom PCV setups: A properly designed PCV system using one way check valves provides proper full time PCV operation. The goal is to divert the PCV system to a different vacuum source now that the manifold is providing boost instead of the needed vacuum. Using one check check valve to seal off the boost from the intake manifold, a second check valve can be used with a new vacuum source that tees into the line going to the PCV valve. An excellent source of vacuum under boosted conditions is the inlet side of the turbocharger, but a vacuum pump can be used as well. This allows the crankcase vapors to be drawn out using the intake manifold during normal driving conditions, and the turbo inlet under boosted conditions. Oil catch cans are highly recommended on any high performance motor, especially boosted engines setup this way. Any oil vapors drawn into the turbo can at the very least damage the turbo itself. It can also contaminate the intake charge which can cause extensive engine damage due to pre-ignition and knocking. Using check valves is key to a successful performance application.
