Description: Norman McLaren - Mutation V - Signed Serigraph - E.A. 3/10. Excellent condition, never framed, stored flat in an art bin. This piece is part of a Gallery Liquidation. Born in Stirling in 1914 Norman McLaren was a filmmaker and artist who developed a variety of groundbreaking experimental animation techniques including developing a form of ‘camera-less animation’ by directly drawing onto film. His genius was recognized worldwide with a string of awards for his work including an Oscar for his short film Neighbors in 1953. While film was McLaren’s favorite medium he also produced paintings, pastels and screenprints in parallel with his film work, these artistic works reflecting the styles and techniques he was developing on screen.
