I've noticed most people who buy a Kaepernick jersey these days are buying a Nike women's jersey for the first time in their life. In all my years of selling jerseys, hands down women jerseys are returned more often than men's due to sizing issues. Mainly too tight/small for them. Recommending a size for women is much more difficult than it is for the men's. I've learned over the years some women like their jerseys really tight and some like it loose. Men are easy, majority prefer their jerseys loose. Below I will go into detail on the sizing differences between a standard sized shirt vs. a standard sized women's Nike jersey. Women's jerseys have more of a "fitted feel" vs. a standard/loose fit shirt. Fitted feel means it's more form fitting and just a tad tighter to highlight a women's figure due to its slight hourglass shape. Women's Nike jerseys aren't designed to have a lot of extra room in the jersey. Does it run small? I would say absolutely yes if you are comparing it with your normal shirt size which is probably a loose fit/standard fit shirt. Now comparing it to other Nike women's jerseys, no it does not run small since its slight hourglass shape is specifically built into the jersey unlike the men's version which does not taper at the midsection and has broader shoulders. If you like your jersey to have a looser fit, you will have to buy 1 size up from your normal size shirt. If you've never bought a jersey, buy 1 size up for sure. Looser is always better than tighter in most situations. When I say buy 1 size up for a looser fit, don't expect it to be so big you can easily layer clothing underneath the jersey. You will still feel some tightness in the shoulder area, but it will be much more comfortable to move in. The jersey is cut and designed a certain way to not look baggy which is why going 1 size up will only make the jersey feel "not as tight" vs. really loose. Honestly, the only way to make this jersey have loose fit comfort is to buy 2 sizes up. Lets be honest, nobody wants to buy 2 sizes up on anything. Now, if you buy the exact same size of your normal shirt size, you will feel the tightness for sure. The women who prefer their jersey on the tighter/form fitting side either want to highlight their toner upper bodies, hate the baggy look or have big cup sizes and a small waist/midsection. A perfect example of this body type are sports bar waitresses/NFL cheerleaders. Most have big cup sizes, average sized tone muscular features vs. large bodybuilding muscles and have a small waist which is why they can wear a tighter form fitting jersey. They even tie it at the bottom to make it even tighter. It's good to be young. Most of us are past our tighter wearing clothes days which is why buying 1 size up for this particular jersey is the best option for most people. Lastly, most of us have been in situations where you love the shirt so much you'll make an exception if they don't have your size. Most times you'll take a smaller size and make it fit because the material is usually thin and it can eventually stretch out. You can't do that with this Nike jersey. Since this is a 100% authentic Nike jersey, the 100% polyester material is a lot heavier, thicker and does not have a lot of stretch unlike your normal t-shirt. A heavier material will always feel tighter than a lighter material if you get the wrong size. Here's an exaggerated example: put on a dry shirt of any size, now put on the same size shirt but soak it in water first before putting it on. Same size shirt but the wet one will feel a lot tighter because of the weight from the water. You get the idea- material weight will exaggerate tightness. This is why if you don't know your measurements and you buy a jersey from me there is a good chance the jersey may feel too tight in certain areas. Like the majority of clothing online buyers around the world, many of my customers had absolutely no clue what their technical overall clothing measurements were because of free online returns. They really only knew the basics like "I wear a medium shirt and a 33" waist pants." I would say after measuring thousands of clothing items, a medium in one brand can be sized much smaller or bigger than a medium in another brand because of the design cut or the material itself. This is why any customer of mine who were reluctantly forced to finally figure out their technical clothing measurements because of my no buyer's remorse refunds brings a smile to my face.
