Description: Offered for sale is a RARE RARE RARE vanity set that was manufactured by the New Martinsville Glass Company sometime during the 1930's. The color, PEACOCK BLUE, is one of the most difficult colors to find - especially all of the pieces! I located this set in the amazing book "Bedroom and Bathroom Glassware of the Depression Years" by Margaret and Kenn Whitmyer (copyright 1990). They have the powder jar and one perfume shown on page 121 but they do not show the tray. I am offering a COMPLETE SET with a large dresser tray, a large powder jar and lid, and two perfumes, each with its original dauber or stopper. THE TRAY: The peacock blue tray measures about 10 inches long (a teeny bit shy of 10") and measures 6 3/8 inches wide. It features scalloped sides and a rayed bottom. The bottom has the NM or New Martinsville mark in the center in a circle. The condition is OUTSTANDING with the outer edges smooth and immaculate. The inner rim shows the tiniest bit of inner rim roughness in one or two places - you can catch your fingernail but can not see). POWDER JAR AND LID: The peacock blue powder jar and lid measures 4 1/4 inches across the bottom and stands about 3 1/2 inches tall to the top of the finial on the lid. Both the lid and the powder jar bottom are in OUTSTANDING CONDITION with no cracks, no damage, no discoloration. When you remove the lid and turn it over, you can see the NM (New Martinsville) mark inside of a circle. This is the biggest powder jar that NM made - and the tray above is also the largest tray that they made. THE PERFUMES & DAUBERS: Both perfumes are peacock blue with their original daubers or stoppers and they are GORGEOUS. One perfume appears to be in MINT CONDITION with the perfume standing 4 1/4 inches tall without the dauber and 5 3/4 inches tall with the dauber in place. This may have the NM mark on it somewhere but I don't see it. The second perfume is in VERY GOOD condition with a broken dauber - part of the dauber to put on the perfume has broken off over the years. This is very common. This second perfume bottle has no chips, no cracks, no damage - but it does have some cloudiness inside of the glass and it does have the broken dauber. This dauber now measures about 3 inches instead of 4 inches. Considering the age and beauty of this set, I think that it really has held up well and retained 98% of its charm. So, to summarize, I would say that only one perfume & dauber has any damage - all the rest of the set is EXCELLENT. Plus, if the one perfume bothers you, you will find another one out there!! This is a rare set in mostly AMAZING CONDITION so please see all of the photos, check my feedback, and ask any questions before making a purchase. You will be DELIGHTED with this set!! EXTRA INFO: A kind eBayer has informed me that the marking on the dresser tray and on the powder jar may be MI or "Mirror Image". This company used original molds from glass companies and created newer versions of the originals - in this case in the same peacock blue color. I am not 100% sure but the dresser tray and the powder jar MAY BE newer than the original perfume bottles. They are still all done in the exact same color and match perfectly and are very difficult to find. I just want to give you all of the info. that I have!!
