The development of these submarines was not without difficulty, and the K-3 exemplifies some of those difficulties, having suffered a fire that severely damaged its reactors, necessitating their removal and replacement, and later suffering a major fire in the sub's hydraulic system, again crippling this submarine. The second incident killed 39 of her crew, once again illustrating the great risks taken by the crew to man these boats. This Zvezda kit captures the details of the ship's design and form, along with accurate marking decals.
