Description: This listing is for a likely antique or semi-antique hand-carved Māori Wahaika hand club. This battle club, made likely in the late 19th or 20th Century, features exceptional, meticulously carved designs and two Pāua snail inlays that differentiate it from a tourist piece. The Pāua inlays are particularly brilliant and luminous, and the wood has a chocolate, dark brown, even finish. The club is made from a single piece of carved wood and has retained a moderately sharp edge! Condition: This exceptional example is in NEAR MINT condition! It has no major flaws, damages, or repairs, and shows only barely visible surface wear. There is some exceedingly light surface wear to the butt and handle of the club that is barely visible. The blade has retained almost the entirety of its edge, with two tiny nicks on the edge that were likely made during carving -- please see last photos. Measurements (approximate): Length: 13¼”Max Width: 5½”
