Aboard the Apollo 14 spacecraft were Astronauts Alan B. Shepard Jr., commander; Stuart A. Roosa, command module pilot; and Edgar D. Mitchell, lunar module pilot. (This view is framed by moss-covered dead trees in the dark foreground)"NASA produced master duplicates of all negatives after each mission, while the originals were locked away in cold storage. From the master duplicates, these type 1 photographs were printed and distributed for the use of NASA scientists, employees, contractors and their PR department. These were processed at NASA's photo labs shortly after the mission was completed. NASA destroyed many of these original prints as they were archived on the internet, which makes these rare and difficult to find in good condition. Provenance: This NASA official photo was part of a family member's estate, given to him by a Houston NASA JSC employee in 1973. It has been protected from damaging light and mishandling.
