Description: Narex Premium Woodworking Chisels This Premium line of Narex woodworking chisels has a slimmer cross section than the Profi (Professional) line with Beech handles. Primary bevels are ground at 25 degrees. Blade is 4-1/2" long. Handle is stained European Hornbeam and is 5-1/2” long. Overall size is 9-7/8”. Width is 14 mm or 17/64". Blade has a well-seated heavy steel tang. Handle has a solid brass ferrule to withstand vigorous mallet work. This chisel is and an excellent value in a good quality tool. These chisels are made by Narex Bystrice in the Czech Republic. Narex is a highly respected tool manufacturer and has been making exceptional quality edge tools for over 95 years. The blades are made from fine-grained, nicely tempered chrome-manganese steel and hardened to Rc 59. The blades take and hold an excellent edge. The blades are forged, hardened and then accurately ground on modern CNC grinding machines. In the August 2008 issue of Fine Woodworking Magazine (FWW), Narex chisels earned Author’s Choice for “Best Value” in the western style bench chisel category. FWW considered a number of criteria when determining the top performing chisels, including dovetailing, paring, chopping, durability tests, out of the box condition, tool ergonomics and edge retention properties.
