Very Good. The center of the mouthpiece, under the barrel, rotates. This independent side movement allows the rider to isolate one side and pick up a shoulder. According to Myler, "It is a good bit for a stiff horse with little bend, or a horse which gets behind the bridle." The rings have hooks (slots) for fixed attachment of the headstall and reins. This provides leverage action, allowing the rider to use less pressure than a traditional bit and are "very encouraging for horse to relax at poll". "Mylers", "Toklat" and the patent number are marked on the inside of the rings. This bit is used but in very good condition. It has marks from normal use, but nothing that should affect its performance in any way. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being new, mint condition, I would give this bit an 8+. A very nice quality bit!
