Description: MONGOLIAPick#....................50 Banknote Book # 402a Denomination ....20 Mongo Date.....................(1993) Condition…...….UNC Comments…...... I traded notes with a fine fellow from Mongolia - I sent him these notes among others! It seems the notes saw no or little circulation in country. Probably made for a coinage shortage, then not used or used sparingly. The notes have a national sporting theme. Horse racing, archery and Mongolian wrestling are the most widely watched and practiced sports throughout the country. P50 - Two wrestlers on front and reverse. Wrestling is the most popular sport in Mongolia. It is the highlight of the Three Manly Games of Naadam. The traditional costume includes an open-fronted jacket, tied around the waist with a string. The is said to have come into use after a champion of an event many years ago was revealed to be a woman. The jacket was introduced to ensure only men could compete. 2nd image is note under ultraviolet (UV) light, showing security inks. Mongolian: мөнгө pronounced as Möngö "silver". 1 Tugrik is divided into 100 Mongo. See my other notes from this country. Image is not exact notes in lot. NEVER A RESERVE !!
