Fuller, who had joined Britain newly formed Royal Tank Corps as a staff officer in late 1916. Tanks had made their combat debut in the waning days of the Somme Offensive, but their numbers had been too few and the terrain unsuitable to have a major impact on the battle. Fuller determined that the next time tanks were used in an attack, they would be deployed in great numbers, and at a carefully selected point...In ROYAL TANK CORPS, play does not automatically alternate one impulse at a time between players; you don't activate a single area and then pass to your opponent. Instead, players can continue activating as long as they have fresh units—or until a combat results in a defeat. This creates a fundamentally different dynamic than previous area movement games. And much more excitement and tension during play. The continuous impulse system also rewards the use of reserves. Without fresh units, you cannot react to take advantage of unexpected setbacks to enemy plans. For example, ?SW (NM)? means shrink wrapped in near-mint condition. MINT Perfect. Brand new. NM Near Mint. Like new with only the slightest wear, many times indistinguishable from a Mint item. Close to perfect, very collectible. Board & war games in this condition will show very little to no wear, and are considered to be "punched" unless the condition notes "unpunched." EX Excellent. Lightly used, but almost like new. May show very small spine creases or slight corner wear. Absolutely no tears and no marks, a collectible condition. VG Very Good. Used. May have medium-sized creases, corner dings, minor tears or scuff marks, small stains, etc. Complete and very useable. FAIR Very well used, but complete and useable. May have flaws such as tears, pen marks or highlighting, large creases, stains, marks, etc. POOR Extremely well used and has major flaws, which may be too numerous to mention.
