Description: Outstanding Mid Century AVEM (Arte Vetraria Muranese) Murano art glass ashtray/bowl in the Bizantino or Tutti-Frutti pattern. Circa 1950s/60s. This large heavy piece measures about 9" x 7 1/2" x 3 1/2" tall and weighs just over 5 lbs. It is in excellent condition, no nicks, fleabites or cracks. Just normal shelf wear on the base. Made with just about every color imaginable of murrine, twisted ribbon canes, white zanfirico lattice filigree, copper aventurine and silver leaf. The glass is cut while still molten on 2 sides and the flaps curled over in opposite directions to resemble breaking ocean waves. All set in an outer casing of green glass.
