Description: Kuba basket. 1940’s - 1950’s. Handmade in Africa. South Eastern Congo. Kinshasa. By the Bakuba tribe. Lid and basket. 6” tall. 3 1/4” X 4 1/2”. A tar coating was applied to seal. Used for food storage. They would store them in the rafters in their roofs. Fantastic example with some decoration. Shows lots of patina from use. Has not been cleaned.
