Description: Vintage Mexican Guerrero Nahua folk art hand carved wooden surreal snake serpent nose ethnographic ceremonial dance mask. Attached wood branch snake body and head. Two carved eye hole slits. One hole at top center for attaching mask to face. Hand painted repeating white line dot patterns over black ground. Blue, green, red, yellow black and white snake. Unpainted raw wood backing, with a warm age-related patina. String attached through eyes. Unmarked, unsigned, no labels or tags. Uncertain of artisan. Likely made in the 1960s or 70s. A truly unique piece of Mexican Folk Art. In VG+ vintage condition with only very minor general signs of age and wear, a few minor losses. Measures approximately 13 inches long, and 8 x 5.50 inches in diameter measured at the back of mask. Weighs approximately 1/2 lb. Will weigh between 2 and 3 lbs packaged. More pics upon request.
