Description: This 1977 album from the Columbia Odyssey label (Y 34603) comprises two mono recordings from 1959 and 1961 of The Budapest Quartet performing at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC. Side 1 is a performance of Mendelssohn's String Quartet in D Major, Op. 44 No. 1. Side 2 is a performance of Schumann's String Quartet in A Minor, Op. 41, No. 1. The Budapest Quartet consists of Joseph Roisman (Violin), Alexander Schneider (Violin), Boris Kroyt (Viola) and Mischa Schneider (Cello), all playing Stradivari instruments. The outer sleeve shows a corner cutoff at lower right (see Photo 1) and a small collection index sticker in the upper right corner of the back.
