Description: MELITA (1918) She was built for the Cunard LIne by Barclay, Curle & Co., Glasgow, Scotland as a 15,183 GT ship Her dimensions were 520'x67'. 16 knots, triple expansion engines and one low pressure steam turbine. She had two masts and two funnels and passenger accommodations for 550 cabin and 1,200 third class. Placed in England-Canada service for the Canadian Pacific Line. Sold to Italy in 1935 and renamed LIGURIA. First employed as a transport during Italian invasion of Ethiopia, bombed at Tobruk in 1940, scuttled at Tobruk in 1942 refloated in 1950.
