Description: RARE MECCANO PATENT 1911 ORANGE WOOD BODY BOAT TAIL SPEEDSTER AC (ALTERNATING CURRENT) ELECTRIC MOTOR CAR TOY This wonderfully early MECCANO BOAT TAIL SPEEDSTER TOY AC ALTERNATING CURRENT ELECTRIC MOTOR DRIVEN RACE CAR is about as early as it gets. Each of the four wheels is stamped "MECCANO PATENT 1911" and each has rubber tires with metal wire inside configurations. Three out of the four tires are in good shape as shown. The one on the right rear has 1/3" of the rubber section broken off with the rest intact, and another section 1/4" broke off since taking these pics. This rubber is very much dried out as it is 110 or so years old. One of the three good tires has a tiny crack. The chassis area has some minor surface rust as shown. Wear consistent with age and use. Please see all photos as they are part of the description. WE HAVE NOT TESTED THE MOTOR BY ATTACHING A AC WIRE DIRECTLY - AS IT MIGHT NEED TO BE HOOKED TO A TRANSFORMER.
