McLoughlin Bros Dissected Map of the United States Circa 1890 U.S.A.

Description: You are Viewing a McLoughlin Bros. Dissected Map of the United States Puzzle. Dissected maps of the Unitrd States have been popular since the 1800's. Many of these puzzles including this one carry the date of 1887, but were published later. The circa date here is 1890 given the fact that Dakota is divided into North and South. Present day Oklahoma was un dispute at that time between the Indiand and the "Boomers". This puzzle depicts the final resolution of 1890 with the Eastern areas for Indian Territory and Western half for Oklahoma Territory and the "Sooners" of the land run of 1889. Yellowstone Park in the northwest corner of Wyoming is distinctly marked. Established in 1872 as the world's first national park, the lands exact legal status was still being defined. Alaska is shown as a cutout on the lower left but Hawaii is no where to be found-not surprisingly as it didn't become a US territory until 1898This McLoughlin Bros. map came in an attractive box with a drawing of a mother and child examining the puzzle pieces. There are only 49 non-interlocking pieces. The pieces are in good shape. The folded picture key has mostly a clean edge. It does have about an inch tear on the top and bottom along the crease. The box is in pretty good shape it does show some age and wear. The one end flap is is torn but it is still attached. It has writing on the bottom. It has someone's name Merlie Allen, some c's and the number 15 twice.INSURANCE WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE SHIPPING FEES It would make a great addition to any collection.
