Description: May 1989 Computer Shopper Catalog (As-Is) Description Up for sale is a vintage Computer Shopper (The Computer Magazine for Direct Buyers) from May 1989. Even though the publication states that this is a magazine, it looks more like a thick catalog in my opinion... with 632 numbered pages; almost looking like a thin phone book but just as equally heavy weighted. I figure it's a hybrid, since things like these were basically pioneering new ground back in the day. Anyways, this catalog was kept on a shelf for a rather good portion of its life and was then subsequently placed in an open tote storage crate (which unfortunately became infested with termites and several other magazines and catalogs from that bygone era unfortunately had to be thrown out on account of the irreversible damage they sustained). Luckily, however, this catalog seemed to have survived that feast of termites, however, it still does exhibit signs of wear on it; ranging from foxing (i.e. yellowing and staining throughout the pages) which in some cases have basically burnt some flyer ad inserts to the point where they just crumbled like a mummy being exposed to oxygen after being discovered and whatnot. The cover also has a fair amount of wear and tear on it; particularly along the edges of those cover pages with a few holes scattered about here and there. What I find most interesting about this publication is that the cover features a Hackintosh computer, which was pretty unheard of back in the day but more commonplace nowadays amongst the retro modding community and whatnot. Aside from these immediately visible signs of wear, the catalog/magazine may also have some scuff marks, creases, page bends, noticeable folds, crumbling edges, etc. Basically anything one would expect from a publication from such vintage. I also believe there must have been a mail recipient sticker on the front of the cover near the UPC bar code area as it appears as though something was ripped off of the surface and what remains are the torn bits that survived from it. This magazine has a mix of full color print ads and fairly high quality newsprint. Even though it's degraded for the most part, it's still very much legible and pretty much collectible, as it is from the late eighties. I figure anybody that's into retro computing history might not want to pass up on this listing, so please be sure to get in on this deal while it still lasts, for my loss is your gain as they say in the trade.
