Please check out my other auctions, and have a wonderful day! In the 1800s, with an emphasis on the Renaissance, Amand Durand scoured museums and private collections for outstanding impressions of history’s greatest engravings and etchings. He took extremely sharp photographs of the original impressions, transferred these images in their original sizes onto copper, and etched the works into the plates. The result was a copper intaglio plate he inked, wiped, and printed by hand just like the original, creating facsimiles so remarkable that it’s not uncommon to see them in museum and private collections.
