Description: Marshall Field's The Walnut Room Holiday 2011 Clear Libby Glass Great Tree Mug The iconic Chicago department store, Marshall Field's, opened in 1852 and remained under that name until 2005, when it became Macy's in 2006. Then (and now), one of the most endearing holiday traditions of the store are its beautifully decorated windows on State Street and The Walnut Room restaurant and it's enormous Christmas Tree. This is a clear glass mug - so it works equally well for hot drinks as well as cold drinks - measuring about 4 inches tall x 2.75 inches in diameter. The art is red. On one side is an image of a Christmas tree with a star surrounded by snowflakes. In a scroll underneath, it reads: THE GREAT TREEOn the other side are the words THE WALNUT ROOM in a box with the words "Holiday 2011" The glass was produced by LIBBY, note the "L" on the bottom. A Chicago TraditionThe world-famous Walnut Room was the first restaurant ever opened in a department store. With Circassian wood paneling imported from Russia and Austrian chandeliers, the 17,000 square foot dining room is both elegant and comfortable. Conveniently located in the heart of the Chicago theatre district, the Walnut Room is an excellent choice to take a break from shopping or for a meal and a glass of wine before the show. Opened in 1907 as the South Tea Room, it became known among the ladies of Chicago as the Walnut Room with its beautiful Circassian walnut paneling and Austrian crystal chandeliers. By 1937 it was officially named The Walnut Room. When this item was first listed, I had 4 of them. Please select how many you'd like and I will help you come up with the cheapest shipping options
