Description: Maple Grove Raceway, a quarter-mile dragstrip near Mohnton, Pennsylvania, has been in operation for over 56 years: 1930s: The property was originally a half-mile oval dirt track 1940: Alfred Stauffer purchased Brecknock Speedway with the help of the Eastern Custom Car Association 1942: The track closed due to World War II 1960: Local racers asked Stauffer to convert the track into a drag strip 1962: John and Roy Stauffer opened Maple Grove Drag-O-Way to the public for drag racing. The track was 30 feet wide and 1/5 mile long 1963: The track was widened by 10 feet for safety and a dual-lane timer was installed 1964: Bob Eveland leased the track and lengthened it to 4,000 feet long and 60 feet wide to allow quarter-mile racing.
