Indeed, the name lodestone, when translated from Middle English, can mean "course stone" or "leading stone". It is also one of the only minerals that can be found in a naturally magnetized state. Storing them with a neodymium magnet will increase the magnetism. Please note that this lodestone is not meant to function as a refrigerator magnet or strong magnet. The iron filings are included to show naturally occurring magnetism.
