Boards are scuffed with considerable edgewear, bumped and some frayed corners. All volumes show considerable wear and some deterioration to spine tips and tails. Hinges are loose, some detached as noted with pertinent volume, but sewing is tight, no loose pages unless noted. Endpapers clean, no writing, printed on paper with small blue decorative design. Paper is moderately tanned particularly at margins and brittle, causing some pages to be loose. Set is "Illustrated" per title pages, but frontis pen drawing is the only illustration in each volume.
