Gin Blossoms - New Miserable Experience New Miserable Experience released in 1992, became the band's breakthrough album. The first single released from the album was "Hey Jealousy", which had been written by Doug Hopkins. The song reached No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 4 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Tracks and later went gold, largely fueling the success of New Miserable Experience. Estranged from the band, Hopkins died by suicide on December 5, 1993, after a reported five previous attempts (including one for which he was hospitalized two weeks prior to his death). The following year, another song by Hopkins, "Found Out About You", also reached No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 and climbed to No. 1 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks. New Miserable Experience eventually reached quadruple platinum status. 2. Toad the Wet Sprocket - Fear Fear is the third studio album by American alternative rock band Toad the Wet Sprocketand was released on August 27, 1991. It became the first commercially successful album for the band, selling over a million copies and was certified platinum three years after release, on September 1, 1994. The album reached #49 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums in September 1992. Two of the album's singles charted in the US top 40, "All I Want" and "Walk on the Ocean" which peaked at #15 and #18 on the Billboard Hot 100, respectively. 3. Blues Traveler - Four Four peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and is most known for its hits "Run-Around" and "Hook", which charted at No. 8 and 23, respectively, on the Billboard Hot 100. Both songs also charted in the top 20 on the Mainstream Rock and Modern Rock charts. According to the RIAA, the album is certified as 6× Platinum (6 million copies sold in the U.S.). "Run-Around" won the 1995 Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group. 4. Collective Soul - Hints Allegations and Things Left Unsaid Hints Allegations and Things Left Unsaid, released in 1994 is the debut studio album by American rock band Collective Soul. It featured three singles, the most successful of which was "Shine". Aside from radio popularity, the song also had a music video which received heavy airplay on MTV. Collective Soul performed at Woodstock 1994 and opened for Aerosmith during their Get a Grip Tour. (Item G157)
