Description: The EMD GP38-2 locomotives were the backbone of the LIRR passenger diesel fleet from their delivery in 1976 to their retirement in 2000. They were the bold image of the LIRR during those years. Being both reliable and versatile, crews loved to operate them and maintenance personnel enjoyed their ease of repair. The New York & Atlantic Railway still uses four of these powerful workhorses to haul freight around the Island. This design features the GP38-2 being numbered #269 in recognition of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineer's Local whose membership operates both LIRR & NYAR trains. Featured in the background of this new and stunning full-color design is the Manhattan skyline as well as a Pennsylvania Railroad position-light signal bridge. The signal numbers pay homage to the LIRR's original charter date of 1834.These t-shirts are professionally designed by a LIRR Locomotive Engineer and printed on Long Island with pride. They are a very comfortable cotton blend which shrinks minimally with washing. Matching hoodies featuring the same design are also available!
