This Edition of Light in August has a Blumenthal binding, Style 8, Linen cloth over thick, stiff cardboard. The spine of the book has the Rockwell Kent torchbearer in gold followed by gold lettering on a dark green label panel enclosed within a gold rectangle. The book measures 4 7/8" x 7 1/4", 444 pages Overall this edition is in good to very good condition: the dust jacket has significant wear with rips and tears along edges and corners, a tear on the front cover & a tear along edge of spine (see photos); the hardcover of the book has minimal wear on the top and bottom edges of the book (see photos), there is no fading on spine and cover color panels and gold lettering (see photos). There are no markings in the text, it is a clean, clear copy with a tight binding. However, there is a name written on inside front cover. Also, when I purchased this book used there was a Life Magazine subscription reply card being used as a bookmark; only seems historically appropriate to have it remain it with the book.
