Description: Measuring about 5-1/2" x 8-3/4", and 48 pages long, this hardback book is "Covered Bridges in Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin" by leslie C. Swanson. Published by author in Moline, Illinois, it is dated 1970, and is stated to be the "new edition." I have no provenance, but the handwritten ink inscription on the inside front cover appears to be the signature of the author, Leslie C. Swanson. The book, in fact, looks like it started out as a paperback which has been rebound - wraps and all - into a hardcover format with gilt lettering on the front cover. It is in excellent and readable condition, with just typical light edge wear on the cover. Also included were the items found laid in, which are shown in the last few pictures. They are: 1) A single-page flyer for the Leslie C. Swanson book "Rural One-Room Schools of Mid-America"2) A four-page foldout flyer for the First Annual Madison County Covered Bridge Festival, to be held in Winterset, Iowa, on October 10, 1970.3) A business card sized feedback invitation asking for comments on this "new book just off the press."
