During the Lebanese Civil War, the LCP's armed wing known as the Popular Guard engaged in open conflict against the armed fighters of the Amal Movement. Although they do not currently have seats in parliament, they enjoy a membership of around 100,000 and maintain influence on Lebanese politics.
