About Dragon Magazine and this image: Beginning in 1976, Dragon Magazine was in continuous publication for 31 years, its last issue hitting newsstands in September of 2007. Generations of RPG gamers turned to Dragon as a source for new rules, characters, monsters, spells, magic items, and campaign settings. Dragon even included humor in the form comic strips like Knights of the Dinner Table, Fineous Fingers, What’s New with Phil & Dixie, Wormy, and, of course, the hugely popular SnarfQuest by acclaimed fantasy illustrator Larry Elmore. Of course, Elmore provided numerous covers during the magazines run as did many other of TSR’s greatest illustrators like Clyde Caldwell, Jeff Easley, and Brom. There was, put simply, something for everyone interested in AD&D or fantasy gaming in general. Though the magazine is no more- it nevertheless remains the single greatest RPG publication in the genera’s history. This last issue, appropriately, features a cover by Larry Elmore and is a homage to the green dragon on the very first issue's cover. Entitled, also appropriately, “The Last Dragon,” it features a stunning (and seemingly Native American) Beauty and her Dragon as they survey the surrounding landscape and castle.
