Description: "L'Armee Francaise" is a two volume (in one), folio sized (14"x18.75") hardcover illustrated by Edouard Detaille, written by Jules Richard, and published in Asnieres-sur-Seine, Paris, France in 1889 by Boussod, Valadon & Co. All text is in French. Volume I has 132 pages, while Vol. II, which focuses on types of uniforms, has 124. In addition, there are a total of 60 color plates throughout both volumes. There are many black-and-white illustrations in the text. The book is in acceptable condition, with both boards detached and pieces of the leather backstrip either missing or about to fall off. The paper-covered boards show various scuffs and scratches, and are exposed at the edges. The ffep is loose and tattered, and the following flyleaf is heavily chipped. There are no internal marks, but minor smudges and stains are not uncommon, and several pages have marginal tears and creases. All plates are present.
