LEATHER GUARD STRAP, The retention with just the kydex alone is very good, but without the guard or handle impressions pressed in, there will not be the same level of retention as you get with a full guard covered press that utilize the impressions made by the guard and handle features. Due to the leather finger guard that comes with the knife, its impossible to get a reliable retention impression pressed in. With repeated use and wear and tear on the leather covering the finger guard, the full guard press will be ineffective and the result will be retention thats only made by the thumb impression on the blade, IF the maker even pressed the thumb impression in the first place! The sheath will be usless with the lack of the thumb impression made, except that you will only be able to just drop the knife in and drop it out by turning the rig upside down! With the addition of the leather guard strap along with the thumb impression from the blade, you will have reliable scout and inverted carry with this rig! This has been requested by many customers and has since been a very reliable upgrade to this sheath! You still have quick deployment and a very strong retention using high quality cowhide leather and high quality snaps with firm snap retention. .093 KYDEX High Quality USA EYELETS Long Barrel Eyelets DRAIN HOLE Drilled at Tip of Sheath POLYMER BELT ATTACHMENT, Has 6 mounting holes for vertical and scout mount. Polymer material for durability. It also has adjustable tabs to fit to the exact belt size you are using. Fits up to a 2" wide by .25" thick belt. With tabs removed 2.25" wide by .25" thick belt. Includes a pair of high quality heavy Duty steel chicago screw set with silencers. Retention is created by the Thumb impression of the Blade. This style of Sheath Avoides the use of the Leather layered Guard. The Leather guard will be damaged during the molding process and will Not create the retention needed to hold the knife in place. Even IF the guard was pressed into the kydex for the impressions from the guard, the leather will wear out quickly and once the leather is completely worn and eventually removed or torn off, the impressions made with the leather layer will create a large gap between what used to be where the leather once was and just the metal guard! Creating a very loose sheath with no retention, other than the retention made using the thumb impression from the blade.
