Additional Images Customer Reviews Best Tent Ever This is my second Kodiak tent. I need a smaller one to carry in canoe and this one does perfect. The quality is second to none. I used the orange sand screws from Walmart while camping on the beach and it worked great. Kodiak is the only tent for me Reviewed by: Wesley Biggerstaff from Florida. on 6/3/2023 5/5 Kodiak canvas tent Excellent product and service from the sales team. Reviewed by: Brian from Klamath Falls. on 5/20/2023 5/5 Mr. I purchased this tent because, as a 71yo solo car camper, I needed a tent that was easy to pitch and absolutely bombproof. This is that tent. I'm fortunate that I still have the flexibility and mobility to use this style of tent. I feel completely secure in this tent in any weather conditions short of a tornado. Here are my pros and cons. PRO: This tent is remarkably adaptive to any weather conditions. Cool in the heat, warm in the cold. Completely waterproof and free of condensation. Breathable, excellent ventilation. Solid, tough construction. Light enough that I can carry it from car to camp site. Easy setup; no fly to deal with. Can withstand winds of 60+MPH. No nylon tent I've ever owned in the past 30 years has felt this solid, rugged, and secure. CON: One concession to my age has been a cot, and this tent is just a tad too small to fit comfortably an average-sized cot. My 75x25 Coleman just barely fits lengthwise, but it does touch the walls due to the slope of the sidewalls. The design is really intended for sleeping on the ground with a sleeping pad. Add a cot, a small portable table and camping chair, with minimal gear stowed under the cot, and the tent is full and feels just a bit cramped. If I have to hunker down for a long period of time due to inclement weather, I have to break the cot down. I make do with this because the tent is so bombproof it makes up for the lack of room. The other large con is lack of an awning/vestibule. Kodiak has said that an awning is not needed because the roof is only 4' high, and you couldn't really sit under it. But they neglect to consider that an awning pitched low with stakes and guy lines would make a fine vestibule where you could cook in bad weather, as well as serve as a small dry crawlspace to get into the tent in inclement weather by protecting the door opening. Most every nylon tent has this nice feature, and it would not be hard to add in future designs of this tent. NITPICKS: There are only two small plastic rings for clipping on items such as lanterns, fans, organizers; one over each V-window. There can easily be more. And a future 9x7 "deluxe" model of this tent might include a stargazer window in the roof, but this might not be possible due to the bowflex construction. Conclusion: I LOVE this tent. As a senior, it gives me a level of security and comfort in tent camping I was not getting in nylon tents. Were it not for this tent I might not be tent camping at all. Thanks for reading. Reviewed by: Tom from WNY. on 4/30/2023 5/5 Stands strong against wind I'm late to reviewing this tent, but I took it to the desert with me where it gets notoriously windy. As in send tents flying in the air windy. It held up amazingly when everyone else tent was falling apart. Came back to camp and one point and was told that my tent was near still when it got extremally windy. Careful when setting up the bar, its possible to do it alone but I almost had it spring back and hit me in the teeth. If you make sure windows are zipped up, it does a decent job of keeping dust out. You can make a cot work but I would not recommend tall ones. As for the company- AMAZING SERVICE. I cannot stress how helpful they were and how quickly they got back to me. They were able to give me a time frame for shipping, answered my questions and addressed my concerns. When budget allows it, I am looking into getting a larger version of this tent and will absolutely be doing it through Competitive Edge. Answer provided by: Customer Support (10/31/2022) Q: Regarding the 6086 Canvas 2-Person 6 x 8.5 Flex Bow Tent, the floor size is 6 x 8.5, what are the dimensions as it narrows at the top? Asked by: Inquirer - 10/6/2022 A: I assume you're asking that question, because you are concerned about the walls sloping inwards. The slope is quite negligible and you can sleep right next to (and even be touching the walls) and it is still waterproof. I haven't heard any complaints about the slope being not steep enough. But, you'll want to dry it out as soon as you return. Storing it wet and in warm weather can create mold and mildew. Answer provided by: Customer Support (5/6/2022) Q: If raining and I have to move to new destination . can it be put away wet until the next night with out damage. Asked by: Harold Swauger - 5/6/2022 A: Yes, but you will want to make sure you take it out and either hang it up or lay it out to dry as soon as you get home. Answer provided by: Admin (5/19/2022) Q: On your 6086 model tent have you guys thought of adding a owning Asked by: Thomas Taylor - 4/27/2022 A: There's no plans on adding an awning since the height is only 4' tall on the tent. To enjoy the shade one would have to be hunkered down on the ground and there doesn't seem to be a big demand for that which would add an extra cost. Answer provided by: Customer Support (4/27/2022) Q: Where is it made? Asked by: Tom - 3/6/2022 A: The manufacturer is based in the USA, but this item is imported from China. Asked by: Rick - 10/16/2021 A: Yes, the two-person can easily handle that wind...easily. The larger tents are a different story as there is more service area, but the 2 person tent is so low profile it could probably handle 60 or so. There are some compelling YouTube videos with people out in bad windstorms. Very impressive. Asked by: MJ - 1/1/2021 A: We have used a buddy heater the last 10 years at Elk camp in November (8000 ft in the Rockies) Perfectly safe and keeps the tent as warm as you want it. Turn it off at" lights out" for a great night s sleep. Click of the igniter in the morning gets the tent ready for Breakfast. Answer provided by: F.A.D.N.E.S.S. (5/5/2021) A: For liability purposes we are instructed to not recommend using a heater in this tent. People do use them responsibly, but we can't recommend it I'm sorry to say. Answer provided by: Customer Support (1/5/2021) A: I use this tent regularly for motorcycle camping. I carry it and all my camping gear in a tow behind trailer. I have a KingCamp cot, Thermarest pad, and array of camping equipment. I use a carpet remnant to cover the chilly floor and a Coleman Black Cat catalytic heater as needed. Next to my overland camper is the best setup you can buy and manage by yourself. Answer provided by: michaelkayaker (2/6/2022) Q: Is this considered a 4 season tent? Has anyone used it extreme cold (0 and below temps)? Asked by: Shane - 10/9/2020 A: This Tent is the perfect all-season shelter. It will work in both hot weather and cold weather. you will want to make sure you have a good seeping bag when camping in extremely cold weather. Answer provided by: Admin (10/12/2020) A: We have used it in several snow storms and one blizzard in the Rocky Mountains. This tent held up like a champ! sturdy through the wind gusts of 30mph and the 2 foot of snow delivered overnight. The tent stood sturdy and repelled the water away. Temperatures dropped below freezing for the next three nights. between the buddy heater and the Kodiak tent, we were able to stay comfortable and sleep well. Answer provided by: F.A.D.N.E.S.S. Thanks, Michael Asked by: Michael - 6/7/2020 A: This is the only model made in this size currently, the tarp is not included, but can be purchased separately here. Answer provided by: Admin (6/12/2020) Q: I am a loyal Kodiak Canvas customer. This would be my third tent and I am constantly promoting your products and website on Facebook pages and via word of mouth. I am not in a huge rush to get this tent but I want it badly. I currently own the 10x10, and the 10x14. I am looking to add this smaller tent for quick trips. Do you still take offers? I would like to make an offer for $200 for this item. Asked by: Steven G. - 4/29/2020 A: I'll go out on a limb and venture a guess/answer. Things I considered before answering. 1) It's already priced lower here than anywhere else. 2) It's a really nice tent that is worth the price. 3) it is "sold out" often. This tells me they aren't having any difficulties selling these at their asking price... My advice (free of charge) drop the bucks and buy one when one comes available. It'll cost you no more than a couple nights stay at a Holiday Inn Express. Answer provided by: Phil (5/2/2020) Q: Would it realistically be feasible to use a Teton XXL cot in this tent? (85" long/19" high) or would the 9x8 be the smallest recommended for a cot of that size for one camper? Asked by: LouD - 4/8/2020 A: I would think you could squeeze in a full size cot, but the sloping walls and low ceiling would make it an awfully tight fit. I use an ALPS Mountaineering Ready Light cot in mine. The Byer TriLite Cot 7000 Series cot would be another good option to check out. Answer provided by: MacGyver (4/30/2020) A: I know those cots are often used in our larger tents However I think it would take up too much space in this tent. Many customers will use it with our 1 person swag tent. They just put the tent on top of the cot. Answer provided by: Admin (4/11/2020) A: No, it will not fit. I ended up using a Coleman deluxe folding cot, 80"x30"x15" tall. It's not a compact cot but it works well and still has 12 inches of space to store gear underneath. It works great in the tent for one adult and still leaves plenty of room to put a short camp chair inside. The walls on the tent angle in from floor to ceiling pretty quick, so If the Coleman cot was any taller it wouldn't fit either. Answer provided by: Phil (4/25/2020) Q: If I buy a tent, will it be delivered to Korea? How much is the tariff if it is delivered? Asked by: D. Jung - 1/23/2020 A: Unfortunately, we do not ship to Korea. I'm sorry for the bad news. You might try ordering through our eBay store as I know they have international freight forwarders Answer provided by: Customer Service (1/23/2020) Q: What are the packed dimensions ? Looking for a canoe camping tent . Thanks Mike Asked by: Mike - 11/9/2019 A: The exact dimensions can differ a little bit since to get smaller if you roll it up tighter and vice versa. I own this tent. When I pack it up into the bag (the nice thing is the poles and the tent going the same back this model) it measures about 2 1/2 feet wide by 2 feet high Answer provided by: Customer Support (11/11/2019) Q: Im planning on backpacking for a couple of days and want to find a good quality tent that I can carry. Can this tent easily roll up and be carried on my backpack or Is it not suited for this? Thanks! Asked by: Mark - 10/18/2019 A: Some people do take this backpacking - they'll split some of the weight between to hikers. But, it is a bit on the heavy side for backpacking. Mostly people with ATV's, horses, etc - they'll take this tent. Answer provided by: Customer Service (10/18/2019) Q: Is the claimed 48 inch height the true interior roof height, floor to ceiling? Asked by: Phil - 9/23/2019 A: Yes, to the highest peak of the roof. The roof isn't completely flat; it bows downward towards the edges. Answer provided by: Customer Support (9/24/2019) Q: Please confirm this is the Kodiak Canvas Flex-Bow VX 2-Person Tent seen in the video? Do you have any other accessories that would go with this tent. I am also interested in Kodiak-15698; Canvas Deluxe Flex-Bow 4-Person Tent 9'x8'. I am a serous buyer 214.681.0181 Asked by: K - 9/15/2019 A: I'm 60, 170 haven't-worked-out-since-high-school pounds and deal with scoliosis. I can handle the 10 x 10 Kodiak with no problems. My guess is that you can handle the 9 x 8. Answer provided by: David from Maryland (9/22/2019) A: This is the vx 2 person, yes. There are no other accessories, besides the ground tarp. The 4 person is just as easy to set up in my opinion since it has telescoping poles and I think you'd be just fine as there is no point where you lift the entire or even half the weight of the tent in erecting it. Answer provided by: Customer Service (9/16/2019) Q: How long will take to ship to California ? Asked by: Bill - 8/13/2019 A: Shipping to California is only about two business days. Once they are in we will update the website accordingly. Answer provided by: Customer Service (6/5/2019) Q: Whats the difference between the ground tarp and the ground tarp for this model tent? Also do the tarps come with stakes? Thanks. Asked by: Steve - 5/25/2019 A: I'm sorry, but I don't quite understand your question. The ground tarp's are all the same-just different sizes. There are floor liner tarps which are actually Canvas, but they are not ground tarps that are poly. Feel free to contact us with any other questions. Answer provided by: Customer Service (5/27/2019) Q: Is the two person flex bow tent large enough for a low height cot? Asked by: Jay - 4/2/2019 A: yes. It's 4' tall so just keep that in mind. You may want to measure against your cot height. Answer provided by: Customer Service (4/3/2019) A: I regularly use the Alps Mountaineering Ready-lite cot in this tent. In the past I used the Byer Allagash. Both worked well. Answer provided by: David from Maryland (9/22/2019) Q: I'm an older woman with diminished strength. In the video it looks like connecting the T-posts might take a lot of strength. What do you think? Asked by: Marguerite - 8/5/2018 A: Not at all! I'm an older woman with severe arthritis and it takes a little strength, but is very doable. I hold the pole with my knees to steady it and use rubber gardening gloves for good grip ( to prevent a nasty blood blister if I put my hand in a precarious position between the sliding poles) Answer provided by: LynnP (10/8/2018) Q: My 6086 has a seam that runs all the way across the floor. My 2 other Kodiak tents do not have a seam in the floor. Is this by design? If yes, I think it's a poor design for obvious reasons. If I simply received a tent with a defective floor, how do I exchange it for a tent with s solid, seamless floor as a good quality tent should have Asked by: Brandon Miller - 8/4/2018 A: now this is a question I'd like to hear the answer for... Answer provided by: D.Reamer (9/19/2019) Q: I just took delivery of this tent. I am impressed with the tent and quality. Looking forward to lots of good camping. Set it up in the yard and gave it a good soaking. The tent was good and tight fitting. But, the soaking left a pool of water in the top about the size of a dinner plate and an inch or so deep. Question. Have any of you experienced owners of this tent had this pooling? If so have you come up with a easy fix? Maybe some sort of a tie of the roof fabric to the cross bar. Appreciate feedback. Asked by: Dave - 12/4/2017 A: Now here is a question I'd like to see an answer for Answer provided by: D.Reamer (9/19/2019) A: I have had this tent for several years and have used it in all sorts of weather conditions including wind, heavy rains and moderate snow. I always pitch my tent with the vertical support posts pressed high and tight, providing a super taut roof. The floor corners should be staked out carefully and evenly; tight as well. I can't imagine this tent holding water if it's pitched properly. Answer provided by: Larry (12/20/2019) Q: I have this tent on order. Should I seam seal the bottom seams from tent to floor IE does the tent leak at this seam line when water pools up? Asked by: Dave - 11/29/2017 A: This particular tent is waterproof out-of-the-box. You should not need to treat it on the seams or anywhere else. If you run into any problems please let us know Answer provided by: Customer Service (11/30/2017) A: You won't need to seam seal the tent but it should be noted that canvas tents like this do require to be "seasoned" per the instructions. Basically, you just set up the tent and give it a good soaking with a garden hose. This allows the canvas to tighten up and after this you should not have water intrusion issues. Answer provided by: M' (7/12/2020) Q: What are the dimensions when packed up? Asked by: George Michelson - 11/1/2017 A: The exact dimensions can differ a little bit since to get smaller if you roll it up tighter and vice versa. I own this tent. When I pack it up into the bag (the nice thing is the poles and the tent going the same back this model) it measures about 2 1/2 feet wide by 2 feet high Answer provided by: Customer Service (11/1/2017) Q: I already have the Kodiak truck tent. I am looking for an add on 'room'. After a mattress goes into the pickup bed not much room left over... will this or another tent 'attach' to truck tent? Asked by: Mari - 10/2/2017 A: We don't have any way to expand the truck tent, but you are welcome to order another tent so that you have 2 tents. The 6086 two-man tent is a great option and doesn't take up much room. Answer provided by: Admin (10/2/2017) Q: I'm 5'8" , can I stand up in this tent? Asked by: Jim Schultz - 8/14/2017 A: I'm 5'10" and I can stand up in the tent just fine. Feel free to contact us with any other questions. Answer provided by: Customer Service (8/14/2017) A: If you're talking about the 2-person tent, then no. In the 9x8, your head would almost touch the ceiling. In the 10x10 and 10x14, you'd have plenty of headroom. Answer provided by: David from Maryland (9/5/2017) Q: Do you make ground tarp for 8.6 x 6 tent? Asked by: W - 7/21/2017 A: Unfortunately we don't currently have a tarp for this tent, the closest size would be the 9x8 tent 0598. I have sent an email to say there is interest in a tarp for this tent. Answer provided by: Admin (7/27/2017) Q: Are you able to completely close all of the windows/doors so that dust cannot enter during dust storm? Asked by: Seth Woman - 7/10/2017 A: Yes, absolutely. Answer provided by: Customer Service (7/10/2017) A: Is this a canvas fabric or a HEPA fabric? If it's not HEPA rated then some dust would most assuredly make it into the interior. That being said, the buttoned up tent would still afford some substantial protection...sufficient protection for your case might be another determination. Answer provided by: James (12/23/2020) Q: What is the standing height inside of tent? does this tent have a shade awning in front like the rest I've seen? Are there any other models with out shade awning? Thanks and God bless. Asked by: Thomas - 6/28/2017 A: It is 4' high. 6' wide x 8.5' long. This is the Smallest Flex bow Kodiak tent that we have. The other Flex Bows will have much higher ceilings. The Awnings on all of the tents can be rolled up and stowed against the tent. Answer provided by: Admin (7/5/2017) Q: Hi, I'm try to purchase a two man tent that will be good for extreme cold weather. I went camping to the sequoia mountain last year in October and had a bad experience with my tent, super freezing. How is the Kodiak tent with extreme weather? Asked by: Sandy - 6/17/2017 A: The Kodiak tents are the best tents that I know of for Extreme weather. The canvas is very good at trapping heat during the winter time. In the summer you can lower the temperature by rolling the windows down. Answer provided by: Admin (6/19/2017) Q: I was shopping this tent before lunch. I came back after lunch and it is $30 more. Will it be $269 again? Asked by: Brian B - 4/28/2017 A: Please call us at 866-308-5484 and we will get you taken care of. Answer provided by: Admin (4/28/2017) Q: Thanks for answer. Never needed to season a tent, all have been nylon. Could it be done on arrival at a campground early on a dry day? is the inside hosed? really want this tent, but I have no yard or hose to do it at home. thanks Asked by: K - 4/16/2017 A: It doesn't really matter where you season it. It's not about idea to set it up before your camping trip to ensure that all the parts in the tent is in order. Answer provided by: Customer Service (4/17/2017) Q: I found the owners manual and think I answered my own question, you could do this at the campground? thanks. Asked by: K - 4/16/2017 A: I'm not quite sure what you're referring to. I'm assuming you're asking if you can season it at the campground? I don't see why not. Answer provided by: Customer Service (4/17/2017) Q: Is the smallest Kodiak freestanding? one review says it is not though it appears so the pictures. This review is the only mention of this and this detail is crucial for my trip plans. The video is too general, just a promo for the whole line, so cannot tell. Asked by: K - 4/14/2017 A: Yes, this is the smallest Kodiak freestanding tent. Feel free to contact us with any other questions. Answer provided by: Customer Service (4/14/2017) A: Have to disagree with these being freestanding. All the Kodiak's have to be staked down. Even the swag needs pegs at the ends Answer provided by: David from Maryland (9/5/2017) Q: another review says "set it up on the lawn and hosed it down as we where supposed to do." Is this really necessary? city dweller here with no yard or hose. thanks. Asked by: K - 4/14/2017 A: I know it goes against the common practice, but I have the 8.5 x 6 and a 10 x 10 Flexbow and neither one has been hosed down. I always put a tarp over my tents so downpours have never been a problem. The few times I've been out with wind blown rain, the sides still didn't leak. But I will say that not having a yard may present a problem if the tent gets wet while on a trip and it doesn't have a chance to dry. You definitely need a place to dry a canvas tent before storing it. Answer provided by: MacGyver (11/30/2017) A: Yes, it's important to do that to "season" the tent. Answer provided by: Customer Service (4/14/2017) A: I set up my tent in the yard the first time, got in it and looked around at all the seams and tiny spaces around the threads and I thought the tent would let water in when I gave it the first soaking. I used a high pressure nozzle and blasted it from all angles for 10-15 minutes. I was shocked when I unzipped it and no water was anywhere inside the tent, none at all. Those results made me feel very confident about the waterproof capacity of the tent and it has never leaked. I'm a real believer in the quality of the fabric and construction of my tent Answer provided by: Larry (12/20/2019) Q: Does the listed 30 lb weight include the stakes? What is the breakdown in weight? Asked by: Dave1968 - 3/15/2017 A: The 30.5 lbs is the total weight. The tent weighs 15.5 lbs, poles 10.5 lbs, stakes 4.5 lbs. Answer provided by: Admin (3/17/2017) Q: Does the 2 person tent have the same weather protection as all the other flex bow tents? I want to make sure it can be sealed tight with no rain or dust able to penetrate. Asked by: Liz - 1/21/2017 A: Yes, exact same waterproofing treatment. Answer provided by: Customer Service (1/23/2017) Q: When will you guys have this tent back in stock? Asked by: Daren - 8/30/2016 A: This tent will be restocked on October 30th Answer provided by: Admin (8/31/2016) Q: Of the 30.5 lbs shown, how much do the stakes and poles weigh? Asked by: Richard G - 8/16/2016 A: It is very close to half. I would estimate 15 pounds. Answer provided by: Customer Service (8/16/2016) Q: Will you be getting more of the tents in? (Flex bow for 399.00) Asked by: C Ray - 3/31/2016 A: We have a shipment coming in on April 15, 2016. We expect to get more in at that time.
