The Orion assembly is designed to increase volumetric efficiency and engine horsepower. The Orion incorporates a K&N famous cotton gauze air filter which is removable for periodic cleaning, and provides the benefit of an open cone filter and standard air box in one unit. The plastic injection-molded housing acts as a heat shield to prevent any power loss. Assembly designs were flow tested for many hours before our engineers completed the Orions shape to provide high flow with low restriction and great filtration all in a small space. Included in the box is a template to cut your own vinyl wrap for personal customization of the housing. The assembly comes with a 76mm air filter base flange and a 100mm housing intake diameter. Our engineers developed and tested for countless hours to improve upon any universal intake system on the market today, and landed on the current design of the Orion intake system. The shape of the matte black housing interacts with the shape of the K&N High-Flow air filter inside, to provide the least amount of pressure drop through the assembly. The air filter incorporates a dome shaped top and a radius flange on the bottom inside to maintain intake air velocity. With an intake diameter of 100 mm or 4 and a filter outlet of 76 mm or 3, this assembly provides maximum air flow in a small package space. An NPT threaded hole in the base of the filter allows for various vent adaptors to connect any type of breather system, such as crankcase ventilation. The housing is only available in matte black for a sophisticated look, and carries the famous K&N logo, to show everyone that you are serious about your performance products. In case you are looking for a flashier or eye-catching image, K&N includes a wrap template with this kit. The template can be transferred to a vinyl wrap of your liking, to provide a unique Orion Intake System. Its a great gimmick for all of us who like to customize and be different.
