This is the rare S12C, the first Kicker round solo baric. The successor square solo baric has too much power and the box needs to be made very sturdy to produce a good sound, but the round solo is easy to use. In terms of the number of tubes, there are overwhelmingly more S12d solos, but I think it is difficult to obtain an S12C of such high quality. I remember listening to the S12C and S12d at the shop at the time and comparing them, and although the S12d also sounds good, I felt that the S12C had a better core and sounded better, so I was desperate to find the 12C. The sound is undoubtedly the best. It sounds best when played in a sturdy shielded box of about 25L. I think it is the best match for a 16cm to 17cm door mid-bass. From experience, I found that the best sound was achieved by putting two 18mm MDF together in a 36mm unreinforced box, rather than having an audio shop make it and using lots of reinforcement from 18mm MDF.
