VSWR is a ratio of transmit output power and any power reflected back into the transmitter due to poor antenna resonance. Lower antenna VSWR values allow maximum transmitter signal output and better received signals. We achieve a minimum gain of up to +3dB as compared to a stock untuned antenna since our antenna has a much lower VSWR value and more useable power output. A +3dB gain can effectively double your transmit and receive power. The length of our custom fine-tuned stubby K900 antenna will be approximately 2.0 inches long with a physical length tolerance of plus or minus 0.25 inches depending upon the final VSWR tuning. All internal connections are silver soldered for best RF conductivity. The outer antenna covering is made of black flexible PVC and the antenna has a bottom weather skirt to protect the SMA male RF connection on a Kenwood 900 MHz portable radio. Any VSWR above 1.6:1 is poor and any VSWR above 2:1 is definitely bad for performance and the health of the radio RF power output amplifier.
