Description: This vintage lady themed book started as two copper sheets. I used a vinegar and salt process to give each sheet natural patina and then I decorated each with textured solder; I gave the solder a wash of dark patina. I then sealed both pieces to protect the patina on both the copper and the solder. The front features a pretty brass, floral bezel with a lovely Edwardian lady underneath resin. She appears to be doing some crafting of her own. A silver plated brass butterfly flits along the frame. To the corners where the book opens on both front and back I placed copper colored book corners with brass leaves adorning over top. A brass filigree pieces attaches an interesting silver colored chain to front and back. This chain closes with a lobster claw clasp and opens to reveal the inside of the book. I left plenty of hanging chain to accommodate for the book getting bigger as it is stuffed with more goodies. The chain has a pretty heart charm with a vintage floral bead attached to the end. The spine features floral fabric and a pretty vintage doily. This tiny book is bound using a pamphlet stitch with cream embroidery thread. Inside are various different book pages made of velum, vintage music page, antique ledger, envelopes, coffee filter, notebook, scrapbook, and coffee dyed papers. Some pages have been given black stitches with my sewing machine. There are several little tucked in surprises to explore as well as ruffles of fabric and lace here and there, ribbon, tags, stickers, safety pins, and cute little paper clips. There is also a real Victorian era calling card hidden among the lace. There are also 3 "book jewelry" charms, one for each signature. All pages have been aged with distress inks to give the book an antique look. 3 signatures. Counted front and back there are 108 pages. The journal measures 5 1/2" x 4 1/2"--these measurements include the tucks of fabric hanging out. It is 2" thick and has room to grow at the opening. As always, the solder I use is lead free.
