He studied at the National School of Art in Havana, printmaking at the Higher Institute of Art, and had an artistic residency at Brandywine Workshop in Philadelphia, United States. Since 1973, he has held solo exhibitions in Cuba, Mexico, Colombia, Panama, Sweden, and the United States. He has taught printmaking courses, served as a judge, and participated in numerous group exhibitions. His works are found in the Print Cabinets of the National Museum of Fine Arts, the Experimental Graphics Workshop, at the University Museum of Antioquia in Medellin, Colombia; at the House of Culture in Ecuador; Foundation Fénix, Stockholm, Sweden; among others. He served as the director of the Experimental Graphics Workshop of Cuba from 1990 until 2002. His work has delved into themes of cities, ranging from gestural abstraction to the emerging figuration that recreates the luminosity of a dreamt environment. JOSE OMAR TORRES. Grabado. Litografía. Adquirido del propietario original por el propietario Estudia en la Escuela Nacional de Arte de La Habana, grabado en el Instituto Superior de Arte y una residencia artística en Brandywine Workshop, Philadelphia, Estados Unidos. A partir de 1973 ha expuesto individualmente en Cuba, México, Colombia, Panamá, Suecia y Estados Unidos.Ha impartido cursos de grabado, actuado como jurado y participado en numerosas muestras colectivas. Sus obras se encuentran en los Gabinetes de Estampa del Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, del Taller Experimental de Gráfica, en el Museo Universitario de Antioquia, Medellín, Colombia; en La Casa de la Cultura de Ecuador; Fundación Fénix, Estocolmo, Suecia; entre otros. Fue director del Taller Experimental de la Grafica de Cuba desde 1990 hasta el año 2002, su obra ha incursionado en temas de ciudades, desde una abstracción gestual hasta la incipiente figuración que recrea la luminosidad de un entorno soñado.
