The album was dedicated to singer/songwriter Steve Goodman who had died of leukemia on September 20, 1984. The album was recorded in Nashville, TN, at Sound Stage Studios. Note: This signed copy of the album was owned by a Nashville Music Row executive who has since passed away. It was purchased at his estate sale. Musicians on the album include Reggie Young, Glenn Frey, Mark O’Connor, Mike Utley, Emory Gordy, Jr. (husband of Patty Loveless), and others. Background vocalists include Roy Orbison, Pam Tillis, Glenn Frey, Marshall Chapman, Timothy Schmit, and others. Last Mango in Paris reached No. 53 on the Billboard 200 album chart and No. 7 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. The song "If the Phone Doesn't Ring, It's Me" made it to No. 16 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart and No. 37 Adult Contemporary and "Please Bypass this Heart" reached No. 50 Country.
