Description: Jefferson Glass ca. 1905 Ruffles And Rings 3-Footed Bowl Aquamarine Opalescent This lovely Early American Pattern Glass three-footed dish is made in two parts - the bottom 2/3's in glass in the most eye catching aquamarine/turquoise color, and the top inch and a quarter rim/band in an opalescent white blue glass. Each section has a unique imprint - the bottom glass part has the most interesting grouping of three figures comprised of four interlocking rings. The interior of the ring figures also have opalescence. The three glass feet are attached inside of three leaves - perhaps daisy leaves? - with the feet coming out where the face of the daisy would be. And the feet turn up into sweet little rams horn figures! Completing the bottom section is a ribbed festoon which is also opalescent. The bottom figures are on the outside of the piece, in contrast with the top band. Twelve "ruffles" make up the rim, and each ruffle has an impressed flower under it, but on the inside of the bowl. As for history, the dish was made around 1905 and I have seen it called "Ruffles and Rings" as well as the "Daisy" pattern. I can't be certain which it is truly called, though the dish has ruffles, rings and daisies! It measures 8 inches across and 2 1/2 inches tall, weighs 1 pound 4.3 ounces prior to shipping and is in excellent antique condition with no chips or cracks or even flea bites. Just lovely. In 1908, the company moved to a new location in West Virginia and sold many of its Steubenville opalescent glass molds to the Northwood Glass Company.
