Description: The debut novel from award-winning English author Jeanette Winterson, this was a semi-autobiographical story about a teenage girl rebelling against the strict conventional values of her environment. "Oranges are not the only fruit" published by Guild Publishing, London in 1990, 1st edition as a hardback, 8vo (8in x 5.5in), 176 pages. The book was first released in 1985 by Pandora Press but had only ever been available in paperback until this release. The cover of the dustjacket reflects this 1st hardback edition being released to tie in with the successful 1990 BBC adaptation starring Geraldine McEwan and Charlotte Coleman. In overall near very good condition. No inscriptions, squarely bound, dustjacket is not clipped but is unpriced, tanning to page edges as is common with hardback releases from the early 1990's, bruise to rear lower left corner (as per photo 7) with resultant creasing to dustjacket at same point, light general wear/creasing at top edge of dustjacket.
