In EXCELLENT COSMETIC CONDITION!but twist action of the ballpoint pen seems to be BROKEN! I bought this pen at the Los Angeles Pen Show a number of years ago and I don’t know much about it. I did own, at the time, a number of high-end Jean Pierre Lepine pens so I decided just to buy it on a whim because I thought it was beautiful, unique and as a handcrafted item – Original! About Jean-Pierre Lepine: Designer Jean-Pierre Lepine is from the fifth generation of manufacturers of luxury writing instruments with his workshop in the French Upper Jura, a region close to Switzerland where tradition, quality and innovation are intertwined. Lepine takes great pride in the design and craftsmanship of his fine writing instruments, which spark the imagination with their bold designs and please the hand with their high-quality materials. Lepine’s pens inspire and amaze everyone who comes into contact with them! These unconventional high-end pens have a surprising combination of colors, shapes and technical ability. All Lepine pens are completely handcrafted in small batches by expert craftsmen following age-old traditional techniques using materials like acrylic, rhodoid, brass, aluminum, delrin, stainless steel, carbon and leather, precious metals like silver and gold, exotic woods and precious stones. You might never find another bespoke luxury writing instrument like the one you’ll find from Jean-Pierre Lepine. Pen Highlights: The ballpoint pen measures 6”. The natural finish and sheen of Briarwood is amazing! Briarwood is typically used to make tobacco pipes. It originates from a shrub-like tree known as Erica Arborea and is actually part of the root structure. Briarwood is technically not a tree at all, but a shrub. The plant is native to the Mediterranean Basin, Portugal, The Canary and Madeira Islands. I do not have any box or packaging for this ballpoint pen (the pen collector I purchased it from did not have it). The twist action that would extend the pen tip seems to be broken. It feels like it is too "tight", it turns but it does not extend the point mechanism. You may be able to repair this yourself or it might need to be sent out for repair. The ballpoint pen cap ring is engraved “Jean Pierre Lepine Paris France”. The Briarwood on the pen is in EXCELLENT Condition showing no gouges or scratches, only natural wood variation. The Gold Trim shows only minor surface scratches due to handling, storage and age.
