This man is very special. Maruyama was a quiet man not a bragger or a "show-off." He was levelheaded. This man was good. He did his job. He never backed down. This print was autographed by the Ace with a German graphic pencil, so the signatures always look fresh. I have a photo of Maruyama signing the prints at the Nimitz Museum in Texas. I thought that Maruyama would have signed his name in English, I was SO PLEASED when I saw him sign my artworks in his language. I spent over three thousand dollars bringing Maruyama and Iwashita with three translators and assistants from Japan to America. When I interviewed both men, I asked them where they were from, and they told me that they were from small villages. I asked them if they wanted to go to war with Americans...they said no... the Japanese pilots added that they would rather have had a beer with the American pilots. They told me that bad leaders do bad things, and it is the young men who get caught up in the conflict...how true. We have published 85 different poster prints.
