Description: WOW, you don't see this every day. For auction today we have one antique oil on canvas large framed advertising piece that's hand painted and in very nice condition. Mild loss on the frame and expected cracking on the canvas with stain lines. No repairs. We have not touched or tried to clean at all. We think it is a pharmaceutical advertisement of something for the ladies, but we cannot decipher the Japanese, and we do a few other pharmaceutical pieces from the same estate. (Stay tuned...) Overall very, very nice condition, back of canvas is understandably dirty from hanging in the same place for many years. Please see close-ups of brush strokes, and old nails securing the canvas, which is still nice and tight. This great big piece measures 34 and 1/2 in long, 18 in high in the frame.
