Description: Philatelist Robert Leskiewicz of Euclid(Cleveland), Ohio combined his love for first day and event covers with his desire for political autographs and here is an item from his collection! He would select covers from his collection that perhaps fit in some way to the person whose signature he desired, then mail the cover in and hopefully by return mail get his autograph. Offered here is an interesting anti-war letter Robert sent to Javits and I believe Javit's secretary made the 3/23/71(See also red RECD MAR 23 1971 at top)pencil notation and also the "X Autograph" marking on the cover(So Javits would know where to sign). Javits was a very busy politician, anti Vietnam War, and he hastily applied his HORRIBLE autograph plus USS NY(I think). Note great provenance! Javits was Jewish, and perhaps Leskiewicz wanted to gain some favor by his notation above his return address label, see last picture. Very colorful and unusual items that would surely add zest to a collection!
