The view is looking east with the St Lawrence River in the distance. *James George Parks was a commercial photographer active in Montreal, Canada, from circa 1864 until 1880. He was in business for at least thirty years. He published both stereographs and larger views. Parks had a studio at 2264 St Catherine Street, and another at 195 ½ St James St. Montreal, Canada. He was the first artist, in Montreal, to retouch negatives, to enlarge pictures, by the solar camera, and to make dry-plates. He is famous for his views of Montreal.
