Description: This auction is for a RARE DELUXE vintage/antique chess set with no makers mark but I believe it was made by ITALFAMA in Italy The pieces are a very heavy solid metal set 6 lbs and king is 3-3/8" high. I believe the pieces are made of brass and nickel plated cast zinc because they are non magnetic and are very detailed. Look at the uniqueness of the pieces The pieces theme may be Roman soldiers and Barbarians with swords and shields with 1 side traditional gold finish and the other silver finish. The pieces have very high detail even to show the knights horse saddle and belly straps. The set except for the 8 gold pawns have a scratch free felt on the bottoms. There are no broken or missing pieces. The extra large wood case has a mahogany finish 22x7" and weights 14 lbs. The battle field area has a lighter finish with inlaid square wood pieces is 16 sq in. The side of the case has some rounded decorative edges as well as the feet. There is some non scratch pads on the end of the feet. There is a drawer on each end to store the chess pieces.This is sold as is because of its age and not marked.
