Boasting more customization options than previous Z-Series models, the system can be easily upgraded to meet user-specific needs and device support. New features include better expandability, greater throughput speeds and efficiency, tool-free component upgrades, and integrated handles. HP calls this system "Whisper Quiet", with acoustical levels at about what you would expect in a library.PerformanceUsers can choose from one or two Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 or E5-2600 v4 processors, or a single E5-1600 v3 or E5-1600 v4 processor. Using top of the line E5-2699 v4 processors with 55MB cache supporting 22 cores, that's 44 cores total in a two processor configuration! Users can start out with just one processor and quickly scale by adding a unique CPU riser board supporting a second processor and 4 additional memory slots. Hyper-Threading, Turbo boost, and Thunderbolt technology are also supported and guarantee faster performance.MemoryUsing HP's DDR4 SmartMemory with an appropriate processor, and optimized memory configuration can achieve memory speeds of up to 2400MHz. Only Registered (RDIMM) and Load-Reduced (LRDIMM) memory modules are supported but cannot be mixed. Non-Uniform Memory Allocation (NUMA) is also supported enabling users to mix and match memory modules of different capacities.
