I no longer have a Hitachi device, but did confirm that the IR light does come on when pressing most of the buttons on this remote. When pressing a couple of the buttons the IR light is dim or does not come on. See pics/post. No batteries included, mainly as it will likely delay overall shipping time since when batteries included, item is to be transported entirely via ground (not air).
